Son of John Hanky. Of Darnhall, Over, Cheshire.
He was married in 1581 to Margaret Dutton, by whom he had three sons and one daughter.
He was buried on 6 Sep 1610 at Over and his will was proved at Chester in that year.
His portrait, showing an Elizabethan gentleman in a ruff, and including the Hankey arms, was formerly at Fetcham Park.
