1900 - 1971

Daughter of Charles and Sheila Alers Hankey, Ros was born in 1900. In 1919 she married John Byron Noel, who became a Major in the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He had been seconded in 1916 to the White Russian Kerelian Regiment; his obituary was published in the Eton Chronicle, but he had escaped from Russia, probably through the Caspian Sea.

They went to South Africa with a group of his fellow officers, who formed the Officers’ Colonial Land Company (OFCOLACO) in North Transvaal, farming mangoes, oranges and other semi-tropical fruit.

Ros died in 1971.
