Helen was born in 1835, the eldest child and only daughter of Stephen Alers Hankey.
She was married on 2 Aug 1866 at Hove to Henry Alexander Giffard (1838-1927). He was appointed K.C. in 1882, and was knighted in 1903; bailiff of Guernsey 1902-1908.
Helen died at Kensington on 21 Feb 1913, aged 77.
