Eldest son of John Alers Hankey of Torquay, born in 1860 at Alderley Edge and educated at Marlborough. In 1894 he married Beatrice Trevelyan (1864-1946) of Nettlecombe; no issue.
He was a stockbroker, and collected violins.
Formerly of Marine Parade, Brighton, he was living at the Grosvenor Hotel, Victoria, London at the time of his death. He died on 12 Sep 1929 at 3 Courtfield Gardens, Earls Court, leaving an estate of £40,500.
